Karen Marcdante, MD

Karen Marcdante, MD, is professor of pediatrics and a practicing pediatric intensivist at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She has been involved in medical education for three decades, serving in multiple teaching and administrative roles including clerkship director, fellowship director, departmental Vice Chair of Education, Associate Dean for Curriculum and Senior Associate Dean for Education. She led the creation of a pilot curriculum that ultimately led to a new curriculum which increases active learning.

Her scholarship focuses on medical education and faculty development resulting in over 200 peer-reviewed workshops, presentations and publications. Her accomplishments have been recognized through election into the Society of Teaching Scholars and being awarded the Distinguished Service Award at MCW as well as selection as a CGEA Laureate by her peers in the Central Group on Educational Affairs.

Recently, she became a certified Executive Coach and has begun a growing coaching practice at the Medical College of Wisconsin, helping faculty and staff develop the skills needed to improve the practice of medicine and medical education as we face the dynamic changes expected in the future.
